Grief, Loss, and Bereavement

What is grief?

Grief is the emotional response to any loss that deeply affects us—whether it's the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a career, a dream, or even a sense of self. Grief can also stem from the loss of health, ability, home, community, or a sense of agency and control. These losses can create complex emotions and challenges, and my work focuses on helping individuals navigate these difficult experiences.

I have a deep understanding of grief.

Having worked as a research assistant under Dr. Jane Milman on a study exploring interventions for Prolonged Grief Disorder during my graduate program, I gained tremendous understanding of grief.

I have also received specialized grief training from Paula Loring, LCSW, and have facilitated peer support groups for the Austin Center for Grief and Loss while I received my masters in counseling.

Through these experiences, I’ve gained valuable insight into the many forms grief can take and the importance of creating a safe, supportive environment for healing.
